Warrington Township is a township in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 17,580 at the 2000 census.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 13.8 square miles (35.7 km²), all of it land. The town takes nameship after Warrington, England.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there were 17,580 people, 6,124 households, and 4,807 families residing in the township. The population density was 1,276.8 people per square mile (492.9/km²). There were 6,314 housing units at an average density of 458.6/sq mi (177.0/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 94.16% White, 1.93% African American, 0.07% Native American, 2.50% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 0.53% from other races, and 0.75% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.56% of the population.
   There were 6,124 households out of which 42.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.9% were married couples living together, 7.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 21.5% were non-families. 16.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.86 and the average family size was 3.26.
   In the township the population was spread out with 29.1% under the age of 18, 6.2% from 18 to 24, 34.5% from 25 to 44, 21.6% from 45 to 64, and 8.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 100.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.4 males.
   The median income for a household in the township was $66,364, and the median income for a family was $76,065. Males had a median income of $49,643 versus $34,175 for females. The per capita income for the township was $25,810. About 1.8% of families and 2.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including 2.1% of those under age 18 and 4.5% of those age 65 or over.
